UMDNJ Turns to GráficaGroup for New Web-Site Design

Chester, New Jersey (March 30, 2005) — The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) Web site is one of the most heavily visited medical research and education online destinations in the country, let alone the state. Designed by GráficaGroup, a full-service advertising agency based in Chester, the newly redesigned Web site (www.umdnj.edu) launched during the first quarter of 2005. It has been met with satisfaction and acclaim by the majority of users, which range from medical professionals and public health officials to faculty and students to the UMDNJ staff and the general public.

"Our previous Web site needed a new 'look and feel' and required a comprehensive approach to human interfacing and navigation to accommodate the various audiences that have come to rely on the UMDNJ for timely, mission-critical information," said Barbara Hurley, Director, University Marketing Communications, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. "Our search for Web-site support led to Gráfica, because, in addition to having brilliant creative talent, they have the marketing strategy and Web-programming capabilities to provide the complete interactive solution that the UMDNJ needed."

Gráfica began work on the new UMDNJ Web site during the final quarter of 2004, conducting in-depth surveys, usability studies, and demographic research to ascertain who used the site and how they used it. By gathering such data before designing the site, Gráfica was able to make specific recommendations to improve the user experience for each constituency set.

"Every Web project is different, but none quite matches the scope and the importance of the UMDNJ Web site," said Debra Taeschler, President and CEO, GráficaGroup. "The UMDNJ Web site plays a key role in communicating medical training and health education information, reflecting public health policy and fostering leading-edge clinical and pharmaceutical research in the state. We are pleased that the new Web site is being so well received, and we're thrilled to include the UMDNJ among the Gráfica clients that are firmly rooted in the New Jersey landscape."

More than 4,500 students are enrolled in 38 degree and certificate programs at the UMDNJ, which has more than 11,000 full-time faculty and staff. The UMDNJ confers approximately 1,000 degrees and certificates annually and currently has more than 17,000 alumni, over 170 specialized centers and institutes, and more than 200 education and healthcare affiliations throughout New Jersey.
