Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey New Web Site Streamlines Healthcare Information
Dynamic, customized content now easily accessible
NEWARK, New Jersey (April 30, 2002) Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) has made it easier for its more than 2.5 million members, hospitals, benefits administrators, physicians, and 4,600 employees to obtain healthcare information on the Web at www.horizon-bcbsnj.com.
With the help of GráficaInter.active Ltd., Horizon BCBSNJ's interactive agency, the state's largest health insurer utilized the latest Internet technologies to enhance the visitor experience in seeking customized healthcare information on the corporate site.
The new Horizon BCBSNJ Web site contains several interactive features, such as the "Pharmacy Services" section, which includes three-tier pharmaceutical plans, coverage determination, and an online preferred-drug formulary. Horizon BCBSNJ's "Rate Wizard" allows individuals to easily obtain rate quotes and select an appropriate healthcare plan online. In addition, customized administration tools simplify the process of maintaining and updating the site.

A critical technology enhancement enabling the redesigned Horizon BCBSNJ Web site is the use of XML (Extensible Mark-up Language) allowing for improvements in the consistency of content and the automatic formatting of navigational architecture. Additionally, XML technology simplifies the way in which Web pages can be added or deleted, making it easier for future site restructuring.

Horizon BCBSNJ has also enhanced its online customer-service features. The Web site now features customer-centric feedback forms, which automatically route a user's inquiry, allowing for expedited, customized responses.
